Everything you need to know.
Everything you need to know.
PCP is a Personal Contract Plan which is a form of hire purchase agreement. It is a car finance package that has lower monthly payments over three years compared to a Hire Purchase contract over the same period. With PCP you can have a flexible finance plan to suit your own circumstances. With a Guaranteed Minimum Future Value (GMFV), there is no need to worry about the re-sale value of the vehicle, depreciation or the NCT costs associated with owning a car for over a longer period of time.
Under Volkswagen Financial Services' industry leading PCP product, Volkswagen Financial Services Ireland purchases the car on your behalf. You choose a deposit percentage of between 10% and 31% depending on the type of car. Then you pay an agreed monthly instalment over the agreed term of 37 months. A portion of the car’s value is deferred until the end of the agreement (37th payment). This amount is the minimum value that Volkswagen Financial Services Ireland guarantees the car will be worth at the end of the agreement, also known as ‘Guaranteed Minimum Future Value’ (GMFV).
The key payment aspects are:
1. The deposit – the deposit is typically between 10% and 31% of the value of the car. The deposit can be paid in cash or if you already own a car, you can trade this in for part or all of the deposit, depending on its value.
2. Monthly repayments – PCP contracts are typically structured over three years but include an option to settle the contract at any time. PCP’s typically have lower monthly repayments in comparison to other forms of car finance.
3. Guaranteed Minimum Future Value (GMFV), the final payment, is how much it will cost you to own the car at the end of the contract. It takes into account such things as the car being purchased, length of the contract, the condition of the car at the end of the contract and the annual mileage. This final payment is determined at the beginning of the contract, based on Volkswagen Financial Services' estimate of the future value of the car. This value is guaranteed by Volkswagen Financial Services meaning you do not bear any risk in relation to the future value of the vehicle. This is a real benefit, particularly in a market where car values may be difficult to predict.
At the end of a PCP contract, there are three options:
1. Part-exchange the vehicle for another vehicle of your choice;
2. Keep the current vehicle – pay the final instalment plus the ‘option to purchase fee’ and the car then belongs to you. Alternatively you can speak with a Volkswagen Financial Services Ireland customer care representative about options to extend the current finance agreement and repay the remaining amount (GMFV) over an agreed period;
3. Return the vehicle to the dealer with no further repayments.
Volkswagen Financial Services Ireland guarantees the minimum future value at the end of the agreement so both you and the dealer are protected. Any shortfall is covered by Volkswagen Financial Services. As previously referred to, this is subject to the condition of the vehicle and the annual mileage.
A. At the end of your agreement if you choose to sell your car either to a dealership or privately, the difference between the sale price of the vehicle and the agreed GMFV is known as your equity.
For example:
GMFV = €10,000 | Sale Price = €12,000 | Equity = €2,000 |
You can choose to exchange the vehicle, or use the equity, as part of the deposit for a new vehicle.
You are free to settle your PCP finance agreement and take ownership of the vehicle at any time. However, fees and charges may apply so we recommend you contact your dealer for further information. Additionally, you can part exchange your vehicle for a new vehicle at any time and, at the same time, upgrade your PCP finance agreement if you so wish.
Our PCP product is based on the future value of the vehicle. That value is determined by the wear and tear on the vehicle and calculated on the basis of a maximum mileage (or kilometre) usage. As part of the end of contract conditions, an excess charge applies where that usage is exceeded but only if you wish to handback the vehicle to Volkswagen Financial Services and not in cases when you wish to avail of the option to sell or trade in the vehicle. The excess mileage (kilometre) charges vary from brand to brand however the average charge is 6 cent per km.
As with all forms of Hire Purchase, until the final payment is made in settlement of the PCP agreement, the car is legally owned by Volkswagen Financial Services (although it is registered in you, the customer’s name).
It is important that we highlight a few distinctions.
(a) The PCP product, which is a form of Hire Purchase Agreement, is primarily regulated under the Consumer Credit act 1995, however it is a specific exclusion within the Consumer Protection Code.
(b) Dealers are authorised as intermediaries by the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission.
In addition to the regulations referred to above, the rights and protections for consumers in respect of PCP are provided for within other regulations such as general contract and provision of services law, data protection and e-privacy law among others.
Service Plans cover all routine service and inspections recommended by the manufacturer. This usually includes oil change services and any filters required for replacement based on the vehicles age and mileage.
Some Service Plan products may cover the replacement of maintenance components, such as wiper blades and brake pads. Please check our offers to see if there is a product available for your vehicle.
Service Plans do not cover general car repairs resulting from wear and tear, or damage. Please check our offers for all inclusions and exclusions.
The Service Plan is non-transferrable to other vehicles. The service plan contract is terminated. Refunds may be available based on services claimed vs payments made on the contract.
Your contract will only expire when you have reached your end of contract date or claimed all services associated with the plan. At this point your contract has ended but it may be possible to purchase another service plan and start a new contract.
Yes Volkswagen Financial Services (VWFS) will do a credit check in order to accept a customer for Finance. They will be able to answer any questions you have on this process at the time.
Your local SEAT dealer will be able to discuss any part exchange opportunity that exists for you.
SEAT currently has 2 different types of electric car within its range. Find out more about them here so you can choose one that’s right for you.
Going electric means looking ahead. A more eco-friendly, comfortable way to get around and with lots of other advantages too.
You can power up your electric car at home, at your destination or during your trip.
To enjoy the full benefits of an e-Hybrid it is a good idea to power up every day. But if for some reason you forget to recharge, it will continue to run as a conventional hybrid: using additional energy from regenerative braking. This gives you greater efficiency than a standard combustion engine.
The right kind of electric car depends on your needs and everyday requirements. e-Hybrid technology (PHEV - Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) acts as a bridge between combustion and fully electric cars. This technology is an ideal choice for users who aren’t quite ready to go for a purely electric car yet. Offering the advantages of an electric car, but with the peace of mind that comes from a traditional combustion engine.
Thanks to the increased sustainability offered by both BEV and PHEV vehicles, and the reduced environmental impact in which they have, many governments have started to promote their usage by creating various subsidies for electric car users. These subsidies often come in the form of direct discounts at the point of purchase, TAX exemptions, and subventions for home chargers (Wallboxes), as well as other associated economic benefits.
Many cities are creating restricted zones to limit, or in some cases prohibit, combustion vehicles from entering. In such zones the use of either an e-Hybrid (like the SEAT Leon e-Hybrid, driven in electric mode to allow for a 60km range*) or a fully electric vehicle are able to drive freely as they emit zero CO2 emissions and do not contribute to air contamination within the city.
*Provisional data
A VIN (vehicle identification number or chassis number) is your SEAT's unique 17-digit identification code. You can find the VIN in your registration papers or on the exterior, bottom-right corner of the windscreen. You will need it to enrol your car and set up your SEAT CONNECT profile.
The SEAT MÓ is equivalent to a 125cc class scooter, meaning you need one of the following licences:
A SEAT MÓ electric scooter is fully electric, this means you will spend less on maintenance (in terms of tyres and brakes) and save roughly €225 a year for every 5.000 km.
For every 100 km travelled, the scooter uses approximately 5.84kWh. And since the average price per kWh at off-peak times is around €0.12, a SEAT scooter will cost only €0.70 per 100 km travelled. On the other hand, a combustion-engine scooter with the same characteristics uses 4 litres of fuel every 100 kilometres. So, with petrol at an average price of €1.45, you would be spending €5.80 per 100 km.
The SEAT MÓ electric scooter comes with several advanced features as standard. Complete with full LED lights to improve safety and visibility. Plus, emission-free travel, with a purely electric range of 137 km and rapid acceleration that lets you go from 0 to 50 km/h in just 3.9 seconds. And with 3 driving modes and a reverse gear, you’ll always have complete control on the road.
The SEAT MÓ electric scooter has a removable trolley-style Battery Pack, so you can disconnect it easily and conveniently take it with you to charge. A fully charged battery will give you an extensive electric range of approximately 137 km.
In general, to power up from a completely depleted battery takes approximately 6 hours. However, we don’t recommend draining the battery completely as it’s always better to charge on the go, that way you’ll never run out of power. This also makes for faster charging and helps to extend the battery’s life.
*Important: the battery must be charged at least once a month, or the warranty will be voided.
The SEAT MÓ 125 has a removable trolley-style battery system, so you can effortlessly dismount it and charge it anywhere, as long as you have a conventional plug socket. *A unique plug or adapter is not necessary.
If you like, you can also charge the battery while it is inside the scooter by connecting it to a conventional plug with the SCHUKO cable.
The SEAT MÓ 125’s battery is manufactured to European quality standards and will retain a 97% capacity, even after 500 charge cycles.
The SEAT MÓ 125 can be taken to any SEAT centre where the scooter is sold. If you experience any problems, it can be replaced or repaired right away.
Yes, the scooter comes with a 2-year warranty, additionally, its battery also includes a 4 -year warranty.
*Important: the battery must be charged at least once a month, or the warranty will be voided.

Check your tyres for uneven wear patterns, bulges or blisters, or significantly deep lacerations. If any of these are present, replace your tyres.
Yes, provided the other tyres have most of their tread, you can safely replace only one tyre.
The Trust Building Measure applies to all Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles models with EA189 type diesel engines that have received the technical measure.
Most spare tyres can drive about 50 miles safely.
Personal Contract Purchase (PCP) is similar to a personal loan. The difference is with PCP, you pay an initial deposit followed by monthly installments. The installments are calculated according to the car's depreciation and the interest rate. Then, once the monthly payment period ends after 3-5 years, you can take out a new PCP or pay a balloon payment and own the vehicle outright.
Go to a car dealership with an idea of which car you want. A dealership is a more personal experience, but buying online might get you a better discount. Don't get carried away with optional extras. Check out our new car offers to get the best deal on a brand new SEAT.
When buying a used car, it's essential to check the interior and exterior for evidence of undeclared accident damage. If a vehicle is licensed, has its service record, and has no outstanding fines or warrants, you shouldn't expect to run into any problems down the line. Or skip the checks and browse our used cars to get behind the wheel of a pre-loved SEAT.
It's essential to test whether the car you choose is suitable for you. When you test drive a vehicle, you get a feel for how it responds on the road. In the case of second-hand cars, testing is paramount so that you can listen for any rattles that might indicate a problem.
Specific facts like fuel consumption and safety ratings are essential when buying a new car. You need to know how much the car will be worth when it needs to be replaced. It's also recommended to ask about depreciation or do your own research.
April is usually the best time to buy a car because it's near the end of the financial year for many dealerships and they are looking to make the most out of each year. This could result in better discounts or more benefits offered to push sales through.
Make sure the car is filled up with fuel, that the tyre pressures are adequate - especially if you’re carrying a load - and that everything else is in working condition.
Road trip holidays should be fun, but they should be practical as well. Off-the-beaten-track is great, but you will want to ensure your family’s safety by always being close to service stations or towns if emergencies occur.
A comfortable one is good, but of course, safety is paramount. Fortunately, our range of cars have excellent safety records and features that will keep you safe on your journey.
All the basic road trip checks apply to this question. You need to check the water and fluid levels in your car - including engine oil, brake fluid, and power steering fluid. Look at the general condition of the tyres - including the spare, if applicable.
When using the SEAT Charger, also known as the Wallbox, it will take approximately 4 hours. Using standard electricity options could take 8 hours or more for a full charge. There are fast-charge options available on ESB’s public network.
Typically around €6 for a full night’s charge.
Yes, they can. You can plug your car directly into your home power supply or use the specially designed SEAT charger or Wallbox to speed up the charging process.
You’ll need an electrical supply and the correct plug. Fortunately, the SEAT Charger and multiple charging stations around Ireland have everything you require to charge the car’s battery.
Many of them require a monthly subscription fee to gain access. When you’re subscribed, you can use your smartphone to locate the charging points within the country, and you can use the ecar connect app or the ESB charge access card to start the charging.
A hybrid car is one that is powered by both internal combustion and electric power. Either drive system can be used as conditions require them.
Hybrid cars have a petrol engine, which drives a generator to power electric motors, and at the same time charge the battery. They can also be run directly from the battery by turning the engine off.
The fuel used in hybrid cars is the same fuel you would use in a conventional petrol engine. In other words, standard fuel available at a service station.
Yes, they can. The engine charges the battery while the car is driven in engine mode. The battery can also be charged by an external plug-in. To run the car in electric mode, the engine must be turned off.
You can expect around 60km of driving on the battery, depending on how you drive. In the event of the battery charge level becoming low, the engine will engage and take over the power while recharging the battery.
Yes. If it's not just you at home, or even if you are looking for a big car you can depend on, a 7-seater is a great way to go. Of course, it does depend on individual preference. Should you dismiss the update notification, simply turning off your vehicle should prompt the notification to reappear. If you have troubles finding it, please contact your local SEAT service centre.
No, please stop charging the vehicle at the start of the installation. Ensure that the battery charge level is at least 30% for successful update installation.
You should bring your current driving license with you, as you will have to present it to the test centre. If you do not bring your license, it will result in a failure of the NCT test.
You will also need to bring your vehicle registration book, registration certificate, or licensing certification.
If you are bringing the vehicle back for a retest, make sure you bring the previous inspection report, so the inspectors know what they are retesting your car for.
The fee for a full NCT test is €55. If you have to go back for a retest, the cost is €28 . If you have to get a retest that does not require the use of test equipment (like a windshield wiper replacement or loose/missing registration plate), there is no additional fee.
Fees can be paid by a debit or credit card at the test centre once your vehicle is checked in.
Test times average between 40 minutes to 1 hour. The test will cover about 60 items on your vehicle. If you fail the test, you will need to rebook within 21 days and have the test completed within 30 days of the first test.
According to the NCTS Customer Charter, you will not be charged for the test if you request an appointment within four weeks and it cannot be provided to you.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, only one person may bring the car to the test centre. The NCT is following all HSE guidance on social distancing. Vulnerable adults and those with pre-existing conditions are encouraged to have someone else bring in their vehicle for them.
Over 50% of vehicles fail the first inspection, so you shouldn’t despair. In fact, over 90% of cars pass the retest. If you fail the test, make sure the items marked on your report are addressed and corrected within the 30-day time limit. You will need to schedule a new appointment and complete the retest within 30 days to avoid paying the full NCT Ireland fee again.
Leasing and renting are the same in principle. The difference is that rental is generally a short-term agreement, while a lease agreement is for a longer period. Rental agreements have no potential to own the vehicle on completion of the contract, while in the case of a leased vehicle, ownership is possible depending on how the original agreement was structured.
It depends on what you want the vehicle for and for how long. If, for example, you require an extra vehicle for a short period, rental is your better option, as there's no long-term agreement, and the car can be returned when you no longer require it. If the vehicle is intended to be retained for a longer period, say a company car, then a lease agreement is more appropriate.
The company from which the car was leased will carry the costs of all maintenance and repairs. Read the lease contract carefully, as there will almost certainly be exclusions to this. Instances of vehicle abuse, vandalism, or reckless driving could result in the repair costs being passed on to the lessee. In some instances, the leasing company may choose to provide a similar vehicle.
Your credit score will usually be checked when applying for a vehicle lease. Many companies will refuse a lease if the applicant has a bad credit rating. Some will allow a lease agreement with a client who has poor ratings, but they would usually require an up-front payment, and the monthly rates will generally be much higher than normal.
Yes, you can. Many leasing institutions are now leasing electric cars due to their popularity. Electric cars are economical to run but expensive to purchase. For that reason, leasing an electric car makes good financial sense. SEAT has the Leon e-Hybrid sedan available for lease at reasonable rates.
SEAT offers both private and business leasing contracts across its passenger car range. See the impressive SEAT range and view our car finance offers and car leasing offers here.
An automotive service can include up to more than 50 components, system checks, and changes, such as: changing engine oil and filter replacements, inspecting the cooling system, checking the status of the car's battery, etc.
Servicing varies depending on the kind of car you own. Manufacturers recommend you service your vehicle every 10,000 kilometres or once a year. It is advisable to follow the manufacturer's instructions on servicing to guarantee longer life for your vehicle.
“Service” refers to a series of mechanical activities conducted after a given time or distance covered by the car. It can evaluate everything from general wear and tear to engine, brakes, fluids, among other things. Each service is unique to your car's make and model.
Yes. Regular servicing protects your vehicle's safety and performance by ensuring that your car's essential or critical components, such as the braking system, tyres, engine, and suspension, are running efficiently.
Yes. It is wise to have your car checked at least once every year. Doing this will increase its lifetime and reduce repair costs. A well-serviced engine will benefit from much less fuel consumption, leading to savings over the long term.
Failing to take your car in for regular service can result in damage to your engine, brakes, and other car parts. You could face a car repair bill that would be costly, an accident, or legal action for driving an unroadworthy vehicle. Also, failure to service the car's air and fuel system can increase levels of carbon dioxide and other harmful gases.
Take care of your tyres by maintaining the correct tyre pressure, frequently checking your vehicle's tyre treads (at least once a month), and rotating your tyres after covering a distance of approximately 6000 miles.
Well-maintained tyres will last longer, use less fuel, perform better on the road, and, most importantly, contribute to your overall safety.
The most important thing to consider is inflation. Keeping tyre pressure at the correct level can improve a car's performance and longevity, as well as its driver's safety.
There are many ways to make your tyres soft, but the best way is to use kerosene. Cover the tyres with rags soaked in kerosene. The rubber will soften and become more pliable, helping to increase traction or grip on the road.
Your vehicle tyres need air to work. If they don't have any air, you'll get a flat tyre, and you won't be able to drive. You can help your tyres last longer by checking the air pressure regularly, using the correct car tyre size for your vehicle, and driving smoothly, i.e., avoiding sudden braking or hard acceleration.
The list is endless; however, safety accessories such as jump starters, blind spot mirrors, and hydraulic jacks are common in many cars.
Accessories are largely determined by the car owner's hobbies, preferences, and taste, but a few accessories are a must-have for every car user. They include phone mounts, floor mats, mudflaps, and Bluetooth transmitters.
Simply put, you will need to adjust your vehicle to your technological needs. Several gadgets on the market, such as Bluetooth adapters and smart chargers, will make your car smarter and cooler.
By incorporating or upgrading your car’s interior features such as infotainment, safety, and sound systems. You could also customise your floor mats, upholstery, and exterior parts such as the wheels.
The edition of the owner's manual is the same as the year of production of your vehicle.
The vehicle owner’s manual is an instructional booklet that is specific to your car model and production year.
It includes important information to understand all of the car's features. It also includes maintenance tips and troubleshooting tips.
On the SEAT website you can find all the manuals predating 2005 onwards. If you have a model predating 2005, you can ask for a copy at your nearest retailer.
The following page contains a step-by-step guide of how to download the new map material for your SEAT. The whole process is quick and easy to complete.
These downloads are completely free of charge.
Smart charging refers to a charging system that optimises charging through data connections. Our smart chargers can stop and start charging to align with periods of low demand on the grid, when prices are generally lower. This not only saves you money but also helps balance the grid.
Save money:If you have a time-of-use tariff or a variable tariff, you’ll pay less for your electricity at certain times of the day. The Ohme app uses your tariff information to charge as much as possible when the price is low to maximise your savings.
Remote management:With the Ohme app, you can control your charging at the click of a button. You can schedule charge sessions, apply a price cap to limit your charging to a certain price/kWh, and keep an eye on your energy costs & consumption.
Grid balancing:The Ohme charger can adjust energy intake according to peaks and lows in electricity demand which allows for load balancing and peak shaving. Put simply, peak shaving refers to managing consumer demand to eliminate demand spikes (high peaks) which in turn puts less pressure on the grid. This is often done through energy suppliers offering cheaper electricity during off-peak hours.
You’ll need to create a schedule that specifies the percentage you would like to add to the current amount of charge displayed in your car.
For example, if you normally return home with 30% charge left in your EV and you want to have 80% ready for the next morning, you’ll need to create a schedule to add 50% more charge (30% + 50% = 80%).
If you create a schedule asking Ohme to add charge more than 100%, you might receive an alert to tell you that your car isn't charging as expected. This isn't anything to worry about, but it's our way of letting you know that we were expecting to deliver more charge.
If you have any issues, or you’re worried something isn’t quite right, our Customer Care team are happy to help.
